The Victoria Park Tunnel is a motorway tunnel completed in 2012 on New Zealand State Highway 1 in Auckland, New Zealand, taking northbound traffic off the Victoria Park Viaduct, which was converted to all southbound traffic. This new tunnel connects the Auckland Harbour bridge to the Central Motorway. At the heart of the project, an additional on-ramp was built to increase the accessibility of the northbound highway lanes directly from urban downtown streets. As this additional access is only available during peak hours, 2 SwiftGates are used to control the entry point of this on-ramp.
The SwiftGate automated lane closure solution from Versilis was selected for the project. The Versilis Commander allowed an easy integration of the solution with the warning signs, traffic lights and indicative panels of the busy Beaumont/Fanshawe intersection.
